Oh woe is me... Argentina is gone!

... and that doesn't even begin to explain this whole miserable weekend.

First the anxiety of seeing Riquelme and Crespo off for Cambiasso and Cruz, after the goalie injury which further compounded / limited the substitutions. Then the agony of the botched penalties. And the unfortunate melee.

Heartbreaking. I'm still reeling from the pain.

As expected, Italy came through against Ukraine. I believe I've not watched a full 90 minutes of any Ukraine game, and this was no different. 1-0 up at half-time, and I was off to bed. I was suprised to find out the Italians actually bothered scoring another two goals.

I don't really care to talk about the England game. Watched every minute of it, and strangely England played better with 10 men than they ever did with 11. Lampard couldn't have scored with 10 penalties. Rooney is getting on my nerves, and C. Ronaldo isn't that far behind him (and this coming from a MU fan, mind you).

Then came the Brazilian shocker (or French delight, depending on your p.o.v.). In all fairness, the French deserved a bigger victory against the hapless seleciao, who never looked likely to score / win.

And I couldn't be happier for Zidane, whom I rank very highly as a footballing legend. He single-handedly held siege on the Brazilian goal throughout the game; I put my money on them against Brazil in '98, and I'm doing so again this year.

Plus, Zidane makes me feel bloody good about my receding hairline.

Ouef! Don't you laugh at ze bald spot again, mon ami!

Sunday night rolls by and I can't sleep because I've gotten used to these late nights. The US Grand Prix is on, and to compound the injury further, it looks like the pariah flers at McLaren are fast becoming the Frank Lampard of Formula 1, with Montoya and Raikonnen making a mess of their season.

As if to round off my miserable weekend, this bloody fool up and wins it.

The pain. The pain...

Keropok, I was beginning to wonder what happened to you. Stay strong my friend... the pain will ease.

Was I wrong, or were they playing que sera sera after the England game? Or were the Portuguese fans belting it out?

I shall email you my Maradona-Pele theory soon.

sorry abt argentina... the best team to that point, and they are out.

i was thinking abt u after the game........ were u swaering or in shock?

Keropok said...

!mamabola: Thanks, and I am well. Slowly crawling back to life.

Yes, I too heard que sera2 after the game. I wasn't hallucinating, after all.....

!mong: I was in shock mate. To be honest, I could see it coming the moment they went defensive while still 1-0 up. Kinda like asking an Indian fella to tango, eh...

I can't comment much because I support Germany, and Schumacher too. But I can understand the pain you're going through....So, will post no comment...well, except for this one..

All successful Germans are blonde and blue-eyed. We just don't see them coz of hair dye and lenses. Hitler's superior human race is about to take over the world. Power to the Aryans, baby!

Germany will take the Cup. And Schumi..schumi's da bloody bomb okay?

Errr.. and no..I'm not Aryan. Just a conspiracy theory specialist.

But mark my words, Germany will take the Cup and I will seek Klinsmann (because he looks oh so bloody hot in that outfit of his)and become his slave forever.

And yes, I felt it in my bones that the Brazilians were gonna crash that night. I mean they did once right? They are not infallible. They are not Gods.

Ohh but Zidane is hot despite the receding hairline. For one thing, the man's got skills. He works the magic. And it would seem to me that you do the same with your words... I mean..I'd never really read a website which spoke too much about football..but I love the way you write and that makes you pretty hot in my books too.

p.s: If I didn't already support Germany, I would support the French.

I so hate the french - maybe we're french jinxed

!spiller: I would say Argies lost the game, instead of Germany winning it.

But, I would say France won the game, instead of Brazil losing it.

Make sense, bro?

!"9": He should have come on instead of Cruz. Pekermen dropped the ball, and their balls dropped...

!anon: You remember me well. Do I remember you?

!daniel: Appreciate the support, mate. Schumacher is probably 2nd best driver in history (after my idol Senna), and is probably the greatest sportsman in his generation. But I still don;t like him... I have my reasons, will blog about it after Wulkap.

!ariel: Well, well... thanks very much for the compliments. The Mrs kinda likes the receeding hairline too. Life has its strange rewards...

!visithra: I feel your pain. Next blogger meet then. Daniel, Ariel, Spiller... you all in???

Hey Keropok.

That comment about your receding hairline,it really made me laugh. Its purely genetics man, remember the RR effect man.

Argentina-arrrgh.whats wrong with Pekerman.Even an idiot knows that you can't mess around with the German at this level of football.Worst still, they are the host-damn it.Releasing Ballack who were all the while playing a personal battle with Riquelme and playing Julio Cruz who just brought smiles to the German defence hence allowing Frings and Lahm to go on the offence.Even Shebby Singh wont make such blunder recognising the talents sitting on the bench at that time.

Viva Les Blues.France playing as a team.General Zidane with soldiers like Makelele and Viera. The team is playing to give Zidane his best farewell gift. The World Cup.They are hungry and let us admit that Brazil was just playing as if victory is automatic and all it takes is to be in that famous yellow jersey.Great team that lost their hunger.

As for Portugal, goodness.they can't even score a single goal against a 10 man England that were defended by the likes of Rio,Neville and Ashley Cole.

At the end of the day-Only one loser.ENGLAND.Bunch of actors for the British tabloids who continues to make headlines for non-football reasons.

Im really looking forward for the Italy-Germany Match. Two teams playing as a team. Its gonna be Germany vs Italy and not some stars vs stars.

Dear Keropok-cheer up man.England is out.Its more relax to have a World Cup without England.(not only for the German authorities)

Lets enjoy the final stages of this World Cup.

haha! that's a good missus you have there then. :-) you should buy her some flowers, for no reason. all good missuses deserve flowers. :-D

i don't know if i'm up for a bloggers meet. sometimes, i prefer to just remain a nickname in cyberspace, faceless. but then again maybe its the world cup fever that's making me terribly crabby and sleepy and everything unpleasant.

keep me informed tho. the dark cloud might shift. ;-)

Keropok said...

!K Shan: Good to see you here, brudder. You for one can speak volumes on my hairline, eh... buzzturd!!!

Anyway, yes agreed on all counts. And you're right - I should cheer up that England is out.

!anon 2: McLaren not getting their act together. How many 'seasons in transition'???

Keropok said...

!ariel: The good missus gets flowers when she least expects it. Which, going by the track record, is perhaps the best time to reveive it, no? :)

The blogger meet idea is up the the air somewhere... hope the cloud passes when it eventually happens. Cheers!

!Mr D: Dei... enuff with the MU bashing. Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea and even L'Arse got our share of sissy boys all the same. Remember the Spice Boys (Redknapp, McMannaman, Owen, James, McAteer?)

We gotta get rid of this menace. Where have all the ball breakers like Paul Ince, Neil Ruddock and John Fashanu gone???

!yvy: The wound is healing, but the scars remain *cue dramatic music*

!visithra: Wheneverrr la...

Yes, I thought the late Ayrton Senna was a brilliant driver. I like Schumacher because of his' ballsy attitude.

The bloggers meet sounds interesting...yes, I don't see any problems...just make sure that there are no England bloggers or else we'll be taken back in time to 1966. LOL

GO GERMANY GO GO GO...!!!! (Any way if they don't make it to the final, I'm quick at changing team. LOL )
